Sunday guide overview – Meadow by Iain Parkinson and Jim Holden – Mark Avery

This can be a sumptuous-looking guide – actually stunning. The pictures, by Jim Holden, are beautiful. It’s a pleasure to flick by way of the pages, besides that one doesn’t flick, one doesn’t wish to miss any of them so even in a fast look by way of the guide one finds oneself turning every web page fastidiously.

Iain Parkinson is the Dwelling Collections and Conservation Supervisor at Wakehurst, Kew’s wild botanic backyard within the Sussex Excessive Weald. He has introduced collectively over 30 private accounts of meadows and the way folks use them and love them.  These cowl scientists, artists, gardeners, farmers, archeologists and extra.

That is actually a celebration of the sweetness and surprise of meadows however I might have appreciated slightly extra rage about how few of them we now have left – however that’s simply me, I suppose.

The quilt? Very good – I’d give it 8/10 though I feel there are some photographs contained in the covers that will have gotten it  9/10.

Meadow; the intimate bond between folks, vegetation and locations by Iain Parkinson and Jim Holden is printed by Kew.
